Challenge Hunts

LCRC organizes and holds challenge hunts which allow handlers and dogs to compete for bragging rights and trophies. The format of the hunts may vary, but the goal is to have the dog flush the planted birds and the gunner downing the birds with the fewest shots in the shortest amount of time. Delivery to hand is a must.

Your LCRC membership for the current year must be paid, and you must have a signed membership form on file, to qualify for the member rates. Non-members can enter the hunts, but they must sign a waiver form, and pay a $15 per person/per hunt non-member charge. All Challenge Hunt entry fees must be paid before you hunt.

Challenge Hunt Rules.

Fun Test

Fun for dogs and handlers at all levels, Master, Senior, Junior, and just getting started. The objective of a Fun Hunt is to replicate a Hunt Test environment as much as possible. But above all, the Fun Test is a great opportunity to spend some time in the field with your dog and fellow club members.

The Fun Test will be set up similar to a Hunt Test, but with relaxed rules, and a lot of help for the new handlers. There will be 3 land marks set up that can be run as a triple, a single and a double, or 3 singles (your choice). Don't forget the blind.

This is not a training day and the same expectations of a hunt test apply. Ribbons may be awarded for qualifying work in the field.

This will be an opportunity for new handlers to gain experience running their dogs in a mock hunt test and receive great critiquing from our judging panel. This will also be a humbling opportunity for experienced handlers to see how much brushing up needs to be done before the start of hunt test season!

This is also a great opportunity to learn the mechanics of a hunt test first-hand and have fun time in the process.

All members are welcome to participate and help out
